    Question Help with DIY Underquilt

I am making my own underquilt from a Sea to Summit 3/4 length sleeping bag. I know that I want to cut it lenght wise and remove the foot box to open up the bag into a large rectangle. I know how to thread inject and close all the edges. I would like some advice on how to make the channels for the shock cord supension. I have done some searches, but Ihave not found any detail instuctions. Any advice that can be given from people whohave done this would be appreciated.

Its pretty easy if you seal the edge with a rolled hem first. Then bind it with some GG ribbon or something similar and that will create the channels for the cord. I reckin clip a safty pin to your cord and then that can be feed through. If the pin dosent fit then it would have been very stiff to move the cord anyhow.

    Hope that helps

I normally just make a large rolled hem, and slide the cord in. If it's a down bag, then GG over the rolled hem..

On my IX UQ, I started with channels around all 4 sides, with shock cords down the length for suspension, but the UQ had a tendancy to bunch up and sag in the middle. I moved to GG loops in the corners, but kept the shock cord down the length, it fits better with just a little (1"-2") of gathering down the length. I did use really light shock cord, though. (3/32? from Joann's)...

Oh, and I use a long piece of music wire (hobby shops have them in 3' lengths) to thread my drawcords.
