    Whoopie Sling config ??

I pretty much have it figured how it works, but need a little more info.

I need tree straps. I will make those, but what is the lightest material for strength for 250# and how long ??

I want to use amsteel so how long for each end ??

Is there anyway to set up the amsteel so its easily adjustable or is it too slippery.

I am thinking I will do a marlin spike hitch, so that you can adjust, but not to easily.

    Thanks

I will pile on with two more questions:

    1) what do you use for a fid with 7/64" Amsteel?

    2) what length do you make the buried part for the adjustable part of the sling?

I'm having trouble finding something skinny enough and strong enough to use as a fid. The technique for getting that running end through the center channel of the Amsteel has so eluded me. I'm looking for some handy hints from whoever's willing to share!

I have an awesome setup (that I didn't make) that has tree straps with the whoopie attached to that ran to a descending ring which I clip the hammock to. Not alot of help but it works without knots

I have made some Brummel (SP) looped ends and the best thing I found was .035 SS welding wire. I just happened to have a spool left over.

If you dont have access to any PM me or email me your address and I will send you some.

I would guess about 8-10" but will let others chime in for the correct answer.

You generally use about 15 feet to make a 6 foot whoopie sling. Here's a diagram that Scott from Backwoods Daydreamer recently made, showing the measurements:

Not sure what you mean. The whole point of a whoopie sling is that it's easily adjustable.
