Ohio Hang with kids - suggestions

Looking for ideas on a place to go with kids that's not extremely far to drive. Would like to be able to park close to the spot and have a place for them to get into some water. Doesn't have to be deep enough to swim necessarily but at least enough to splash around in and cool off. Grandma and Grandpa will be going and sleeping in tents. Right now I'm looking at the weekend of June 24th or the following weekend.

    Any suggestions?

Is an hour & a half too far?

Caeser Creek is about that far S on I 71. Nice lake, swimming at the beach is excellant, but I've gone swimming all along the shore.
UM, I stelth camp A LOT, so can't really tell you about the campground, but I hear the one S of 73 is decent. There is also a water fall in that part of the park, I've never been, usually hike N of 73.
Contact HamMike for more details as he has hiked in that area.

Monster truck, I've never been yet, but from what I've read and heard about mohichan, it seems to be a great choice. I'm sure they have camp grounds, but they also have 20ish miles of trails with "back country" style camp areas along the trail. The cool part is though, they're free, and each one supposably has a parking area very close. So its like free camping, private and some what secluded, close to your car and a trail. It looks really pretty up there. I also know a guy who went floating down the river in a tube last year that they rented, said there were a lot of people but still fun.

    +1 on Mohican

On the West end of the State Park campgrounds (near the cabins) is/was a knee deep section of the Mohican river great for wading & splashing around.

Note: This Springs rains have temporarliy shut down several of the local canoe liveries. Be sure to check river conditions ahead of time.

If Grandma & Grandpa are up to wilderness camping, the Park & Pack sites are great. Some of the better ones are just South of the Bridal Trail Staging Area.

I read last week there were swimming restrictions from high levels of bacteria there, but haven't seen an update. I've never group camped at their established sites. Mohican lloks really cool. I dig the creek crossings. Looks like good areas to cool off.

So sadly it seems all the lakes, or most of the known lakes are having bacterial problems. My dad lives up at indian lake and they're getting it too. I guess we just gotta stick to the rivers.

    OOPS, forgot about that. Sorry!
After checking a few others like Caesar creek, Eastfork & their siblings, seems Ohio lakes are a Utopia for bad microbes this year. Even tiny Acton Lake near Oxford is closed to swimming.

WOW! That is crazy. Reminds me of southern cali. We would have beach closures all the time due to the bacteria levels in the water. Would never fail though - you still had people that swam in it anyway.
