I made two identical squares of ripstop fabric and sewed thru the hammock around the edges and then basically tacked them together by going from one corner to the other. The pull out itself is attached to only one of the squares and not the hammock itself. The black bits on the end is 1/8 in shock cord from diygearsupply. The 1/8 cord is a bit overkill I'm thinking about replacing them with smaller shock cord.

Thanks a lot Shug that means a lot.

Johnsawyer thanks for the tip about starting from the middle and sewing it on out. You where 100% right about the stretch.

I've done hammocks with tie-outs. I've had no issues with mine. All of them are zigzag sewn 3/8" grosgrain and attached to a rolled hem with no reinforcement.

The one trick I learned is to not make a tight loop. I leave a gap in between where the grosgrain loop starts and ends of about 1.5".

I find it hard to describe in words, so here's a pic:

(ok, this is a boxed stitch, but all my new ones are zig-zags, bartacked at where the grosgrain loop begins...) My theory is that you get fewer stress points on the fabric by making a wide tie-out... Time will tell...

Nice looking piece of work you got there. Careful or you may inadvertently turn yourself into a cottage shop.
