Memory Foam Down setup

If you head to the Marin Headlands at Bicentennial, you can enjoy a free campsite (3 spots) that overlooks san francisco, ca and the Golden Gate Bridge during night hikes.

Anyway, this campground is basically car camping and has several hammock locations. I brought a 3 inch memory foam pad, doubled over(it was queen size), a large queen down comforter, down pillows, and put it all inside my Hennessy Ultra-Lite Explorer up in the Cypress tree.

This setup is the most comfortable I have ever slept!

Haha that's pretty awesome. I've often thought about hanging up in a tree, but it seems like getting up to pee during the night would be a pain. Especially if you forget where you are and just try to step out of the hammock!

Love that place! Been a couple of years now, but i'll again bicycle up there from Boulder Creek. Used the HH ulbp that time. Of course now there's whoopie slings and a HH survivor to help me along.
I keep an eye out for hangs that are up high, but have a secure place to step/fall out. Looks like i might have walked right under one. My first tour taught me the virtue of the sewn bug net. I woke up hanging in it in a storm down in the Big Sur area. Thanks for the great photo!

This sounds quite comfy. When I retire the current mattress I'll have the steal the memory foam off it and try this out.

Climbers just sleep in their harness and tie off. No reason you couldn't do the same in a tree. Just make sure you know how to use the toys

This is what I love about hammocks-- camping sites all over and zero impact.
