Could someone reassure me this stuff will work okay for an indoor fabric? 228cm/90" width. I'm thinking of using it for a double layered gathered end.

I know people have posted instructions on how to make bed sheet hammocks. I imagine it will depend on what you weigh. You can always double layer it to be sure.
Dan.
Perfect. I don't have much length to work with so the width of that appeals. I'm about 160 so no worries there
It has cotton in it, so it will take longer to dry and would eventually rot. since it is not a ripstop material it will be more-likely to fail. However, if you know the negatives and use if wisely, it should work.
Have you checked on the weight - I don't see anything listed. It might be rather heavy.
Of course, if you are using it indoors, most of this is irrelevant.
Drill is usually a very substantial fabric resembling a lightweight canvas.
The use of "ripstop" to prevent failure is IMO a non-issue since ripstop was developed as a garment fabric, not a weight bearing fabric. I doubt very much if the ripstop threads would prevent a catastrophic failure if the fabric was weak to start with, so I don't see a negative there. Taffeta is widely used commercially for hammocks and it is not a "ripstop" fabric.
That said, there is not a whole lot of technical information such as deneir or weight or thread count in the listing on which to make an informed judgement. I do question whether the width would compensate for a lack of space available length wise. But I'm not a designer so I have nothing but my own gut to base that on. If you don't mind the experimental nature of the beast then by all means go for it.
Just don't use it outside without proper precautions against rot.

Oh no I have a great diy synthetic hammock for hanging in the woods and im saving for another..
Experimental is good I guess. I'm not going to bother sewing anything on it, I'll just whip the ends and see how it goes.
What natural fabrics would you suggest for an indoor hammock? I'm on a tight budget
Im curious to try the width. I remember reading a post here that suggested adding to the width would improve the lay more noticeably than by adding length.
No natural fiber is recommended as they aren't as strong as polyester or nylon.
Polyester makes great hammocks. I've made hammocks from lightweight material, and heavier weaves, based on the intended use of the fabric.
Since you're 160 Lbs, IMHO any 100% polyester would work fine, just get what's cheap...

I respectfully disagree. For an _indoor only_ hammock I will take a natural fiber over a synthetic every time. Natural fibers breathe better. They have a better feel on the skin. You might want a higher weight fabric but since weight is not an issue for an _indoor only_ hammock then that becomes a non-issue. Natural fibers were used for outdoor products for centuries before the advent of the synth fibers. Cotton drill would be great as would cotton twill. But if you really want decadence and a sweet lie use a silk. Or go with one of the woven hammocks like the mayan and such. They are also made of natural fibers.
