Just came off the Goat Island Hang here in SC and when I got home Sunday, my indoor/outdoor temp gauge was reading 101*and that was in the shade of my screen porch

When I plan a hike, I generally head out regardless of the weather. I love being out there regardless of Mother Nature's mood. I admit that being on the river would alter my thinking though. Maybe you could modify your plans this weekend and just head out somewhere to camp. Whatever you end up doing, I hope you have fun and get a chance to try out your new gear soon.

Good to know they're screwing up other parts of the Central Valley, and not just the Fresno areaI'll send an email to Google Weather for ya! Maybe if they say it is going to freeze, snow, and pour cats and dogs in Idaho there will be a dry hot spell (seems to work that way here).

@cataraftgirl--my deepest sympathies. There's nothing worse than having plans torn to pieces by inescapable misfortune. For example: I was planning on doing absolutely nothing for the three day weekend, only to find a to-do list the Missus drafted up last night. We are born for sorrow (but things always have a way of turning around)

I was out in the storm Monday. The pond was full!!! If we have too much coming out of the mountains we will have major problems on the Strawberry river and below. I have a week long camp scheduled for 6/13-18 so I hope things get straightened out soon, but last I saw there was still 200% of the annual snow pack up the hill.When it does warm up we'll have a heck of a lot of water coming down out of the mountains. Makes the early rafting season kinda scary, but it will extend it longer into the fall. Maybe by the time my September Middle Fork Salmon trip rolls around, we''ll have a decent water level, and I won't get my raft stuck on as many rocks.
Now I'll have to cross fingers & toes that next weekend is better so we can float, and I can hang my hammock.
