    Lightbulb Reflectix under quilt

After some not so deep thinking, the idea of a reflectix underquilt happened upon me. If I created an under quilt made entirely of on layer of reflectix, would it work? Has anyone ever tried? It would seem to me that would be quite cost-effective. Would I have to double up or be in for a cold night and a chilling sleep?

I have Reflectix and a reflectix-like truck windshield I have successfully laid on (in my new DL hammock)

The only issue I see with a Reflectix UQ would be getting it into shape, then the bulk when packing...

I looked at a roll of Reflectix at the local DIY store and decided it was way to thick and did not look like it would very comfortable.

I am trying a car aluminized windshield screen I pick up at Wallyword for $5. Much thinner and flexiable. Have used it one night so so far and temps got into high 50's/low 60's and while I was not warm I was not cold either. It did not crinkle up and I did not have any condesation problems. Will proabably be trying it again this weekend. ( I used it with my BB 10.7 double )

I've laid on reflectix. If the windshield cover you ahve is about 1/8", it might be a bit on the cool side... I've found reflectix to be a bit warmer, but I normally use an UQ.

I'm playing with the windshield cover for summer time when you do not need much under insulation. I also use a pad and or UQ depending on circumstances.

I've used the windshield cover in the 50-70's and found it to be adequate. Like yourself, I wasn't warm but I wasn't cold either. Got a little bit of moisture when it was humid.

Are you looking to make a pad or an UQ? Reflectix works fine as a pad, but I doubt that it would give a snug fit for an UQ. A compromise would be to put it between layers of a double layer hammock.
Ed Speer mentions using it as a pad for several weeks in is Hammock Camping book. Shug uses one for a sit pad. I'm just not seeing it working under a hammock as the form would make for too many air gaps to be useful.
