Absolutely! I need redemption on a certain deer. Hmmmm. . . Wonder what the hunting regulations are on the island. Just kidding. However, gotta plan a date when SwampFox is available. Anybody that can make a dessert like those two needs to be present

I'm thinking we need to stick with the May theme for Goat Island but maybe we need a good location in the upstate for a fall hang. Do you think there are any good locations up there

Just kidding with ya SwampFox but I do think its time to plan an upstate fall hang

My two favorites would be the Chatooga area or the Foothills Trail.

There is a beautiful site on the FHT 5 miles west of the Laurel Valley Access. It has plenty of opportunities for hanging, it's right on the Laurel Fork Creek, definitely one of my favorites.

I've never had a bad experience on the Chatooga.
More opportunities for a crowd to hang close together and they'll be fairly easy to get to.
The Chatooga will be easier to get to than the FHT site but you won't have as much traffic on the FHT.

I'm good with either option. Both have great advantages. However, considering the amount of gear and cooking options we had at Goat Island, I'd be in for the other side of the rainbow and do the hike in. Practice up on hiking light, try out some of that fine cooking that SwampFox, Babelfish, and others have been preaching about. I really would like to learn to "bake on my bongo" . This would also be a great weekend for me to bring my girls with me who are just starting into backpacking and hanging. Great time for sure!

    Please, Please, .... PLEASE! . . . . .

Lets schedule a fall hang for the first week in November! I have to take the PE exam on Friday October 28th , an all day exam that will whooop my whoopies into the Twilight Zone. That following weekend will be a weekend I have earned from months of studying.... let alone October 24th is my birthday. No party for me until after the exam.
