Speaking of permethrin, I've always wondered if it would be worth it to use a lice shampoo before the trip if you're headed somewhere really infested. The active ingredient in the shampoo is 1% permethrin if I'm not mistaken. I don't think I've ever been bit through the hair on my head though.

Has there been a run on permethrin like ammo?

I always come back to this tried and true Knotty/Walter White calculation at treating time.

My 40% bottle that I thought would last a lifetime sprung a leak. I went to TSC and they only carry 10% these days. A search on the interwebs returns a much higher price per mL than when I last purchased it a decade ago! Such is life. Next thing I know, I’ll be telling Roche’s kids to get off my lawn!
Afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose.

Permethrin binds to the fabric. It's removed by friction against the cloth by either you when you're moving around or by the agitation in the washing machine.

The sawyer spray bottle has no expiration date but they say to "shake well" before applying.

Just when I thought we couldn't have any more permethrin threads! But this one looks like an original. Solid revival.

My second bottle of Martin's concentrate is working well. And no separating/settling like the first bottle. The only guess is storing it in the garage messed it up (as low as 40° in winter and 90° in summer).

The light smell, I actually like it. An odd combination of an old library book, ozone, stink bug and weed killer.
