I have a 2x4 portable hammock stand, and it sways just a little too much for comfort. I was wondering if you all have any ideas for ways in which I could stabilize it a bit and make it sway less. Thanks.

2x4 are going to sway..
You could just add some guy lines and stake the ends out to stabilize.
That would be the cheapest way.
without seeing your frame its hard to tell you how to fix it.
You could probably run a strip of wood or 2x2 down the sides to create a sorda "I" beam effect.
How about posting a picture of the stand, in order to evaluate what the problem might be?

Screw/nail/bolt/whatever a piece of angle iron along the edge of the upright 2x4.
Or just screw/nail/bolt/whatever another 2x4 with the 4" edge perpendicular (think L or T) to the other 2x4.
Depending on the configuration though, it might be easier to use a guy line.
