I had a great time and was able to put faces on a whole lot of names.

I hope to be back next year

Re: poor setups observed- perhaps write "for best results, try www.hammockforums.net" several times on a sheet, make some quick copies, and leave a stack on each vendors table? or slip a scrap into their suspension? I'm thinking of those college bulletin board flyers with the tear-off strips on the bottom. maybe for next year...

Ya know, at Trail Days 2007 I bought my first hammock. My buddy Hammock Engineer (Coffee) sold me a Hennessy. I was excited, but not at all prepared. I had brought a humongous tent for my brother and I. When I was introduced to Sgt. Rock, I told him (like an excited kid) I had just bought my first hammock. He asked where it was so he could see it. I told him I was sleeping in a tent on this trip. He looked at me for a second, then shook his head and stuck the cigar back in the corner of his mouth. As he walked away, he was muttering something about leading a horse to water.

Kind of the same situation IMO. They'll figure it out and they'll find us on their own.

I wish you guys had stopped and said hello, but since I didn't tell people here that I would be helping Tom Hennessy, how could you have known? (Mea culpa!) Gals from WomenHikers did know and stopped. We were too flipping busy to get the Typhoon displayed. Same for a few other items. Tom has a new, lighter poncho fly that I like much better than the last version. I used on at Trail Days (As mentioned, it rained most of the time.) and on the trail the next week, hiking from TN 91 into Damascus. I don't see it written up on Hennessy's website. It looks like the old one is displayed. This one, besides being lighter, has a drawstring at the neck with loops on the ends. They are great for attaching the long ends so they don't drag, can form a sort of sleeves, and a way to use the poncho as a cape or pack cover, either attaching to the user's pack sternum strap or to its haul loop.

I'm regretting being too busy to stroll down the midway before Sunday morning, when so many vendors were already packed up and gone. Sometimes that is just how it goes.
