What knot was original to the Blackbird? And was it this original knot that slipped?? Or was this a knot that you'd tied there to connect the suspension??

On a side note, I can tell you from experience that a bowline tied into the amsteel will not hold, so don't use that knot.

I was under the impression that the knots in amsteel on the blackbird are double (maybe triple) fishermans knots.

What undid was the original knot but I don't know what it was/is.

If you must tie a loop at the end of a rope +1 on the surgeons loop.

    Continous loops are very easy.

But if you are looking for suggestions; now is the perfect opportunity to make a 'detachable' ridgeline.
Using Nacrabiners/soft-shackles connect the two ends to make only connected to one side making it much easier to use your BB as a camp-chair/lounger.

I have had good luck with figure-8 knots or by making a byte at the end of the rope and doing a simple overhand knot with the doubled rope (can't remember the official name of the knot). I've used both extensively with dyneema with no problems.

i was tying a double fisherman's for a long time, but switched to the triple fisherman's for extra security. this is the first i've heard of one actually coming untied. if anyone is worried about it, just take a look and make sure there is still some tail left on your knot. if it looks like there's no tail left then let me know and i can send you a new set tied with a triple (what i've been using for over a year now)

Spend the weekend looking for some tail. Got it.

Is there any way to look at the knot and tell if it's a double or a triple??
