    kayak hammocking susquehanna river

Spent another blissful night kayak camping on the Susquehanna River, in Harrisburg. 68 daytime high, overnight low upper 40s. So I stuck with my 20 degree down bag that I use as a cocoon around my hammock. Probably would have been better with the 40 degree bag, but better a little too warm than too cold. So nice not to have to use a sleeping pad in the hammock or fiddle with TQ/UQ. First use of my bug sock, from Papa Smurf. Nice product. I highly recommend it. Boats and hammocks go together like peanut butter and jelly!
.. truly to enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold, for there is no quality in this world that is not what it is merely by contrast. Nothing exists in itself. If you flatter yourself that you are all over comfortable, and have been so a long time, then you cannot be said to be comfortable any more. - Herman Melville

My daughter goes to school in Grantham. Always think about doing some kayak camping when I cross the river.

    Talking Susquehanna river

I kayaked the Susquehanna River back in the 90's. I just loved it, wish I was into hammocks back then.
    Peace \/

There are detailed maps for the entire Susquehanna River at least in PA. They show organized campgrounds, islands, Fish and Game docks as well as dams and other hazards. I am just north of where the North Branch and the West Branch merge in Sunbury. Boating the Susquehanna has a lot of appeal and some of the city moorings can be quite congested.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Are the little islands private property? I showed this to a freind who kayaks out there and he said most of the islands have no trespassing signs on them. I'm sure you can sneak in if needed but does anyone really own the islands?
