The family and I loved PGF plus I think the location was central to more people which helped boost attendance.

I agree with the pope, I have never been to a group hang, so how does the fee and food work? I am thinking I would bike to the hang.

I've only been to two, but here is how it has worked at them (I think). Saturday night, there is a potluck with food, and everything else, provided by all. There will be a sign up sheet and everyone brings something. Usually, Dutch (and a couple others) provide a sat. morning breakfast feast. Friday night dinner, Sat. lunch, and sunday meals are your own - do as you will.

As far as money, in the past there has been a raffle of GREAT prizes provided by many people and you buy tickets for $10 a piece. All the prizes are donated, so the vendors get nothing out of it except a lot of good will and future customers. The money raised helps pay for the site, sat. morning breakfast, big ticket items for sat. night, and sometimes a donation to charity or museum.

From personal experience, buying 2,3,4 tickets is not only worth the food and the great sites we end up with, but a chance to win hundreds of dollars of prizes. (I hope I'm not banned from the next hang )

As we get closer to the fall hang, just follow the thread and everything will be explained much better, but if you need to put in for time off of work, trust me, it is soooo much fun. Well worth it in many ways! Hope you make it to the MAHHA hangs and the other hike/hangs that are coming up.

I would suggest considering the addition of "site E" which was the site that ran along the side facing the parking lot... If I remember there were more hanging trees there.

We can probably reserve all the sites on the upper hill...to the right side of the parking lot.

I think having the MAHHA at different state parks adds to the excitement and allows different people to show up because of the different locations. Add me as someone who likes this idea!

That is our district's Webelos Weekend and why I couldn't attend this year. HOWEVER, I will have an Asst. Scoutmaster trained that can fill in for me, so I'll attend in 2012. In other words, I voted YES.

Besides having different parks to camp in, changing up the location gives people different hiking options for prehikes and post hikes.
