Do you think this hammock stand would work?

They're selling these steel 15" hammock stands on eBay for $98 including shipping.

Do you think this would work for our kind of hammocks?

    No.

They are too long, and not tall enough.

    Greetings

The specs on this say it is 47" high and it is 15' between the hooks. So you are definitely going to need to used your hammock suspension to hang it. I would think the 47" height with proper hang angle would have the hammock on the bottom bar even before you got in it.

That is my $0.02 and this comment is worth exactly what your paid for it.

    Cheers

    Brian

I don't know if you have read the thread or not, but turtlelady's hammock stand design might be an option for you. She uses bamboo, but I imagine you could use just about whatever suitable substance you have on hand. It's also significantly cheaper for not a whole lot of work. Here is the thread: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=27777

    Hope this helps.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

I built one kinda like the one NoJack linked to for only $32 including hardware! I used 2x3's for everything but the uprights that support the hammock. It works great!

yes you can use it AFTER a little modification. i have one very similar that i was able to get dirt cheap but at 15' it wouldn't fit into the bedroom - solution, involves some trig but the short of it is to take the uprights to a muffler shop and have them bent "up". mine is used for full time indoor hanging and the hooks are 58" off the floor and 122" from hook to hook. the hammock i use on this set up is a ENO DN. a buddy of mine has an unmodified stand of the same style and no it does not work very well the ends need to be bent to get the hooks higher or you will be laying on the cross bar

I have one for my rope hammock. and use it for test hangs, you do hang lower then normal, you have to rig your tarp up with something else as when you sit in the hammock it does give alittle, and the tarp goes slack. I wouldn't use it for camping just for hangs on a sunny day in the back yard.

It can work, but needs a little modification.
My stand was one like that and the added extensions make it work fine.
