Blackbird or Traveler?

i'd pick the blackbird.
the traveler and netting is fine.. but i just find the netting to sort of "come in on you" -- and thats gonna be the case on most any system with a separate bugnet.

since you say its mandatory, i don't see a reason to consider the traveler over the blackbird. its ready to go, no fuss.

One more vote for the Traveler here. I didnt care for my WBBB and sold it. For me its the Traveler w/diy bug net when needed.

Well, if a bugnet is mandatory then the Blackbird for sure. Otherwise I prefer the Traveller, for how easy it is to get in and out and for the open feel. They are both very comfortable and I wish I did not sell the Blackbird now that bug season has started.

I too sold my BB I felt too enclosed. I like the feel of an open hammock. I find myself with my arm hang out side the hammock when I sleep. When I get cold I just tuck it back in my under quilt. I have a 1.7 double Traveler with the mosquito netting. A great combination. Both hammocks are a great choice. You can't go wrong with either one . Brandon makes quality gear, with just a little care it will last you a life time.

I'd go with the blackbird double 1.1 or 1.0. If you go with the double 1.0 its only $130, you get your double layer, it only weighs 22oz and that could be brought down, has the glorious footbox and amazing shelf(my favorite feature), it'll fit your weight fine, and you'll be set for all seasons.

I love my taveler too, but only to save weight when there's no bugs. If you get the traveler it'll be $75 for a double 1.1 (since he doesn't have a double 1.0 for the traveler that adds more weight to your system) and the bugnet for $65. So that $140.

For $10 less you get a foot box, shelf, and attached netting. Plus its always easier to spend $60 or $75 on the traveler later if you want it for seasons with no bugs.
