Clark JH; TX-150 Proto Type - Review

Well it was a cool weekend here in the West Kootenay . . .

. . . and I did get a shot at trying the new Clark Jungle Hammock TX-150 Proto-Type.

I am quite impressed with the unit and for a complete write-up you can go Here

For now Here is a photo of her deployed . . .

PS. I have to runn off and shoe some horses, so hurridly post this for those waiting . . .
. . . I may update the review this afternoon when I return home.

Thank you for posting your review. The TX-150 looks like it is exactly what I'm looking for. In Mississippi, I need a cooler hammock with more ventilation and mosquito protection. My current NX-250 can get hot in the summer and I didn't want to give up the spreader bar and single line hang features.

Specifically, what I see that really makes me happy are less pockets and the addition of a zipper at the head shield. The pockets are placed in good spots. The two on the head end for things you may want in the night like a headlamp, book etc. and the foot pockets for shoes, jacket or anything else. The head shield zipper is a huge bonus!

I can tell you right now that is there was a TX-150 and 250 ready for sale now, I'd buy one of each TODAY. I was close to buying a NX-150 for my wife but now will wait to see if this goes into production. I certainly hope so!

Oh, I forgot to ask about the weight. Did you get a chance to weight it? Four less pockets but an added zipper; I'd guess it weighs in at 3.1 with a drop of 5oz.

Thank you Bradley for the pictures and review and I look forward to hearing more later.

I really like the mosquito netting over the head and feets...

It should be on the nx-150 too for hot nights. Or only to evacuate moist in the night in front of your face... you open it and there you can also see the stars!

The difference - with or with out pockets - is very noticable, I found.

To the best of my reckoning it's 2lb 7.9oz
    or 1.13 K

I just noticed something else new. Are those flaps over the storage pockets? I looks like they built in a cover flap like on a shirt. I'm not sure if it's needed under tarp and if the vertical sides of those flaps are sewn in place it could limit the aperture of the pocket making it harder to use.

Also, was the new head shield zipper a two way zipper? I'd assume it was so you'd have the ability to drop the hood partially if desired.

I emailed Spencer today. Good stuff all around.

Tropical 2? I'm out of the loop. Didn't know about it.

Two way zipper would rock IMHO.

Hi Bradley, What are the poles made of, what diameter? Thinking of adding some to one of my hammocks. Thanks.
