The Blackbird may be great but.....

It can't be better than my Traveler 1.7! I finally got a chance to go test hang my hammock today. My two hour hang was totally worth the wait. Either by good luck or dumb luck I was able to get the sag right the first time. I sat in it chair style for a bit just to make sure my knots would hold then I laid back and enjoyed the breeze. Talk about comfortable! I took out a book and read for two hours while trying out different angles to lie on. I tested out each way I usually sleep and was pleased to find that the hammock was much more comfortable than my bed. I am looking forward to my first overnighter. Man I am so glad I sold my tent! Why I didn't try this sooner I'll never know.

I don't know... I got a chance to go out Friday night on a backpack trip to test out my new BB 1.1 and it was the best sleep I had outside, ever!

I didn't have the hang just right (the ridge line was too taut), but I was a little tired and it was getting late, so I just let it go. Lesson learned though for me, get the hammock up first and then the tarp. I did it the other way around and I didn't want to fight it in the fading light.

I went out for another hang today and just like yesterday I had a great time. I could kick myself for not doing this sooner.

This is the last tent I will ever own, the Nemo Nano that I sold recently to fund some hammock goodness.

From here on out I will be hanging in the wonderful Warbonnet Traveler.

A board flat lay is easy to find, much easier than my blown out mattress at home!

I had to test out my preferred sleeping position. The wife calls it the figure 4.

I can totally see why hammocks are becoming so popular. I will be placing an order for an under and top quilt and a bug net before the week is over. I just have to decide if I should get a summer UC or a 3 season UC. Any suggestions?

    Mmmm.... comfort
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

if you are any kind of cold sleeper, or will be in temps under 50, go for the 3-season; you can always vent if it gets too warm, much more easily than adding warmth if it gets too chilly! KM (who sleeps cool in all seasons..I have the 3S Phoenix, and mostly camp in TX...)

I'd jump right in and get a three season.....much more versatile. If you get a summer UQ you'll be limited to summer. If you get too hot with the 3 season in the summer you can simply loosen it a bit and you'll be fine. I've been down to the mid twenties with my 3 season Incubator and plan to use it all summer. Of course if money is no factor get three....summer, 3 season and winter.

I recently just got a hold of a Traveler because I wanted to see how I would feel in something without a footbox.

My first experience in hammocking was a HH Deluxe and I wasn't that comfortable. Next was a Blackbird and I was sold.

Having recently tried out the Traveler I am extremely impressed with the comfort. I'm looking at ways to lighten my winter gear and I have been debating the traveler for some time. Glad I made the plunge!

For insulation for your traveler I would also suggest a 3 season.
