    Good cheap tarps!

For anyone looking for a decent, and good tarp, or a good backup tarp, LL Bean just got some 10 x 12 ripstop nylon tarps in for $ 49.50. Dark green.Light and waterproof. I will be bringing one to the MASS Hanging.

===> Really? didn't feel that heavy when I checked it out. I will recheck it. maybe it was another type? They also have a plastic sheeting type of tarp that is a lot heavier.....

    weight doesn't add up

    10 x 12 = 13 1/3 sq yds. Go crazy & add 10% for hems & grommets = 14 2/3 sq yds @ 1.9 oz per sq yd = 1 lb 12 oz. Can't see where they get the listed 2 lbs 9 oz unless that's shipping weight.

It's coated with a urethane coating.

Chinook sells a 9'6 x 12 for $45 shipped. I got one last week. It's nice enough and weighed in at 1lb13oz. Most are on back order though.

Exactly. I have found the listed fabric (not finished product) weights are usually for the uncoated fabric. The weight of a PU coating varies and is a significant portion of the finished weight.
