    You can also get silnylon at Noah Lamport for $3.99 a yard, IIRC. Google it and then call them to order, it's not on their site. You won't get the customer service that you get from Scott at Backwoods Daydreamer, though. Scott probably doesn't charge as much for shipping as well.

    I agree that your understanding of equipment is better when you make it yourself and, you are more likely to be able to repair it in the field if needed.

    I am still waiting on my sewing machine to be delivered so we will see now that whole process goes. I did make my first set of whoopee slings tonight and they turned out really well. Can't wait to use them.

    Back tot he money thing, when you factor in sewing machines and other "stuff" I will have to make quite a few pieces of gear to average the up front costs down.

    Just think of the fun you will have learning how to sew crooked seams. I have gotten real good at them

    I haven't dealt with Noah Lamport but Scott's response to my questions was prompt and apparently my order shipped within a day or two. His service has been great.
