    Almost Busted My Arse!!!

I am hanging in my Hennessey Ultralight for the very first time in my backyard!

My first attempt , the tree straps on one end slid and I went kerplunk. Then I used a smaller palm behind that tree in order to wrap the strap around twice. I guess it's not meant to be secure once...? What happens if you only have fat trees? Anyhoo... Right now I am pretty comfy. I'm hoping it rains so I can nap. Thanks

With the stock system what I did was thread an end of the tree hugger through the opposite loop around the tree and just do the lashing on the other loop. The webbing is plenty strong enough. The difficulty of adjustment, bulk, and short tree huggers are what bring many to swap out the suspension. Some just use it in a garda hitch with descender rings which I haven't done but I hear good things.

In my experience, it has more to do with how the strap is laying against the tree. Yes, a single 'wrap' is fine.

I find that you need to keep tension on the strap until you can sit in the hammock. Most of the time the weight of the backpack should be plenty. It's kinda like milking the bury on a WS.

Is it natural for my butt to be so low? The lines look pretty parallel but my I am sinking pretty low when in the hammock.

Without weight in it your lines should be at a 30* upward angle from the ridgeline and the hammock maybe a touch above chair height. If you run everything straight it can cause some unnecessary damage to your hammock and back side. Also you should have some play in the ridgeline with It strung up, be sure it's not too tight.

Umm, we really need pics to help you with that one.

You said: "the lines look parallel"
Which lines? Hammock suspension lines? Yeah, you don't want them parallel. You want them about 30^

That would depend on your inseam . . .

It sounds like you are running from the hammock to around the tree's back side only,

then back to the hammock . . . if so, no wonder it slips down . . .

use the tree straps by after a wrap, around the tree,
putting one end of the strap,
    through the other ends eye
so it grips the tree when it tightens
and then to the hammock . . .

just my figuring with how you have explained it

Thanks for the replies so far. I Looked at it again an it actually wasn't straight it was dipping considerably so I readjusted it to what looks like a 30 degree angle. My feet and head are a lot higher than my big butt. That's normal ? I can't imagine lying on my side for long.

Next thing...are you on the diagonal? You'll want your left should about 2" in from the net and your feet about the same on the opposite side. I would start there and start trying different positions to find the sweet spot, after it's found a couple times it get drastically easier to get comfy. Oh and having the tie outs staked out made a big difference for me.
