Unless I missed it I did not see the Ninety Degree Hammocks listed, e.g. Hammocktent, Amok Draumr, or Ergo. The Hammocktent Gamma UL is my go to backpacking hammock due to weight and comfort.
I also have developed a new style hammock that I'm currently working with a vendor to produce. If the vendor approach doesn't come to fruition, it will still be a new style hammock, but a DIY hammock for those who press the frontier of hammocking. I hope to update this in due time.
Including "non-conventional" hammocks helps stimulate young minds to think beyond the box.
Did anyone ever approach BSA National about this idea?
If they can offer Fishing and Fly Fishing as separate badges, I don't see any reason this couldn't fly.
Maybe the HYOH guys could use their logo and raise some funds for the podcast while we wait.

is there another source for this google doc, as it appears to be no longer at the link provided. I am part of a church related scouting group called the Pathfinders and we are looking at trying to put together a hammock camping (Merit badge) We call them Honors. i would love to see the most recent update to this.
Why not try to make it official? Spam BSA enough and they'll be pretty likely to respond.

It would be a big lift for a single specialty badge addressing something, Camping, that there is already an Eagle required badge. While it would be cool, the BSA likely has bigger issues to address. We do have a Safety Moment for hammocks and hammocks are super popular at camp and in our unit.

Ah - I see, I got confused between posting here and posting in the newer thread. No, I haven’t contacted anyone directly. It is just a whim. I’m not much of a trinket/charm/keepsake kind of person but if they were inexpensive, they’d be a nice handout or something to put on a backpack or cap. Looks like the interest was 2 years ago - then it just died.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
I have the badge on my sleeve and struct a hammock on outing (if not banned by park ranger), that is always a good talking topic. Many people only know hammock as swing in summer afternoon, the full overnight tent substitute use need experienced user introduction.
