Is the black seam in middle of tarp supposed to run length wise along the hammock or down the sides of the hammock if you know what I'm saying.

length wise if i'm getting what you are asking.......when you lay the tarp out flat the longest corner to corner is your ridgeline

I think I understand what you are talking about but it's been a while since my HH Stock tarp has been out. The best guess on seams is lengthwise. Usually the reason for the seam is to make a wider tarp not longer.
I didn't think the stock tarp had any seams other than the hem around the edge??
I think they might of given me a free upgrade because the tarp is much bigger then the tarp for the hyperlite that I returned.
Seems yopu have the hex (hexagonal) tarp, not the "stock" asym tarp. If so, the seam is the ridge line.
As stated above, the asym tarp has no seam
The tarp has rings on all 4 corners but string on only two. Am I correct in assuming the two corners with string are the ones that you attach at each end of the hammock? Or should those be the two ends that i attach to the ground.
the rings with the strings attached will go to you stakes or whatever you have in the ground
there should be a hooks on the other 2 corners that you attach to the suspension line of your hammock
then there should be prusik loops with a hook attached to them already on your stock hammock suspension that you hook into the rings to tension the ridgeline
that is, if its a asym tarp and you still have the stock suspension on your hammock, since you say there are only 4 rings i'm assuming it's asym, the hex tarp would pry have 6 rings

i don't own a SS and have never used one, so i could be wrong here
but i think the SS comes with the hardware you need to hang it (some hooks and zip ties) that you attach those yourself on your suspension line, i don't think that the SS is supposed to clip into the hooks that are on the prusik knots that came already on your stock suspension........i think
