Cool I won't be cold with this one!

Here are some more pictures of my UnderQuilt

This is my third underquilt project and I was able to make it the way I wanted it and not they way my budget dictated I make it! This underquilt boasts a total of 7.5 ounces of fluffy, white ClimaShield goodness spread out over an area of 60″ by 44″ and is guaranteed to keep me warm and toasty in just about any condition in which I will be camping. For the most part, I was able to use the cottage industry vendors from HammockForums so a big Material Supplier shout-out goes to the guys over at Arrowhead Equipment, Backwoods Daydreamer and Thru-Hiker.

What does it weigh and how well does it compress and a picture of it slung up would be nice.

    Nice work.
Jazilla beat me to the questions.
I've been using IX for my UQs and TQs. Interested to see how this compares.

    Talking

    Thanks E'reybody for the compliments!

I can't wait to take this quilt out on a trip. I have a trip scheduled for the end of April to Mt. Mitchell I am so excited. (School and work and my pregnant wife have been tough the last few weeks and I am ready for a TRIP!!! and there will definitely be pics and a trip report). Then there is the Goat Island trip near the end of May that will probably require a different tarp (a reason to build another quilt - probably try my hand at an IX UQ - been sitting on some IX for over a year now)

I have not had a chance yet to man-handle this beast into a stuff sack (haven't made one yet - time is a premium) but I will do my best this evening to get the weight and packed dimensions out. In all actuality, I am not much into weight. For the most part I am a car camper or kayak/canoe camper and I made sure to buy both kayak and canoe that would take the weight but to satisfy the masses I will pull out the scale and see what the weight is just as soon as I find something to stuff the quilt into.

Thanks again for all the positive comments.

rjcress, you really have me looking at IX insulation. I am in the process of making a UQ/TQ and was going with down or climashield but not I am looking at IX. How does it compress compaired to climashield or other synthetics.

From what I heard on Goat Island IX has super magical qualities that defy gravity and heal all wounds. But that is just hearsay. I have never seen it do any of those things myself.

I do know that I plan to make an IX UQ (and possibly a top quilt if I have enough) for the GOAT ISLAND HANG in May.
