    Law Dawg User Name change...

    No nothing super fun like an earned trail moniker...though my ancient travel name was Scotty. No this is simply a way to reflect a new reality after 33 years of LEOdom; Drum roll please!

    I am now Law Dawg (ret) !!!

    It will be official June 18th but I am on "Terminal Leave" meaning;

    1- I ain't coming back.

    2- I am burning my vacation time until the "official" moment.

    Will there be any farewell parties from work or any other recognition? Heck no and frankly if they threw one I probably would be a no show anyway. It's been fun and I do appreciate the citizens of Kern County for allowing me to do what I have loved/hated (LEO careers are like a Chinese dinner...sweet and sour) for so long. Feels kinda like those Spring days in school just before Summer vacation. Y'all know, real school work is done and you are hanging out until the day when you are actually free. Sort of a formality...

    So Hi folks, I am Law Dawg (ret), a new hanger!

    A close LEO friend of mine in Florida said there was zero difference between owning a boat and being in law enforcement. You couldn't be happier the first day...or the last.

    Congrats on surviving long enough to enjoy the memories.

    Hoo boy is that ever an accurate saying Cannibal!

    Thanks y'all. I have done things that I will take to my grave with pride and endured things that cannot ever be forgotten (Lord how wonderful it would be if You could erase some memories). Saved lives and helped others along on finishing destroying theirs. Two Departmental commendations and a Red Cross Real Heros award. Loved and hated while working around the scum of the world at times...then you have to leave the office.

    I was the guy you wanted to show up for backup at the bar fight, the one the Sgt always sent to "persuade by aggresive means" those who just would not listen to reason. Read; Dumb as a sack o hammers but strong and determined to win, meat and potatoes Deputy.

    Alan, thanks for YOUR service bud. It's the partners you will remember and the ex ones (aka: the brass) that you will often wish you could forget.

    Reitrement just means you get busy with everything else under the sun.

    Remember those vacations when you were kind of glad to get back to work so you could rest and recoup?? Well, now you don't have that luxury. You will get up in the morning and your wife will still have a list of stuff for you to do!

    Congrats on the retirement, enjoy every minute. Everyday being Saturday will have its bright side.
