    Hey SB Mike,

    Check out the thread...

Amsteel or equivalent in the UK?

If you haven't already done so, try giving some of your local yachting suppliers a call. They might be able to help, or at least suggest an alternative with the same properties. These high performance lines are becoming quite popular.

Here in Toronto, I picked up my Amsteel from West Marine, a local sailing shop. Incidentially, they're also a good source for denatured alcohol, which seems to be hard to come by in Canada. Guess we're not to discrimination when it comes to our beverages!!

    Chard.

    Hey SB Mike,

I would follow up on those suggestions from the guys in your neck of the woods (All of Europe), locating a good source for Amsteel and Dyneema is a different situation for you blokes on that side of the big pond mate. It isn't the first, and it sure won't be the last time that you fella's will be searching for a readily available and inexpensive way to get your hands on some of this high techy cordage.

There is a simple rule that many of us believe in and follow:
"Don't hang any higher than you are willing to fall!!"

    And as always...HYOH/YMMV

    Happy trails,
    Barefoot Child

Yes i have learnt that the hard way buddy, slinging in the mountains hanging off some climbing gear 1000ft-4000ft is a lesson learnt well by what ever standards you use, i once rolled out of a portaledge platform i was 2050ft off the ground and by jolly when i woke up dangling from my sling, karabiner and harness i was what you could say VERY HAPPY
i used a safety line, it has never put me off but brought into realization that the word SAFETY means alot!!
Its something i preach very little in the outdoors unless its needed, fun in a relatively safe environment means it is what you make of it, not what is governed around you!!
