how did you set it up ?
did you string it from poles or from I beams ?
did you follow what was printed on the bag?
if so that might be part of the problem .... your hammock suspension should be at a 30 degree angle ... when you hang your hammock

when you say your back was bent ? how so was it a slight bend ?
or was it more like you were sinking into the middle of the hammock?

as for sleeping on your stomach i really can't help you there... i never had any luck with that ....i'm a side sleeper at home but can sleep fine on my back in a hammock...

as you fond out is not everyones first night in a hammock is good ... mine wasn't either ... but ti takes practice to get it right sometimes

sorry if i seem like i'm asking alot of questions but i'm just trying to pin point the cause of you not having a good nights sleep
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

It took me some time as well. I did end up shortening my ridge line by about 2" when I did my whoopie mod and replaced the RL with Amsteel. Thanks to allergies and stuffy nose, I flip constantly. Back, side or stomach, I do it all. That being said, I was very disappointed my first hang. I set it up like every video I looked at on YT. Once I messed with it, I tailored it to me. I suppose the same will work for you. Good luck. I love my HH.

Set it up on some 2x4's in my basement. Both ropes were attached at same height. I did feel like I was sinking in the middle. Perhaps I will try to put the head end a foot higher than foot end. I can lay on my back to read a book and it is comfortable. Problem is for the life of me I can't fall asleep on my back

You want the foot higher than the head. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but it's what works.
Is it stretched properly? If your ridge line is slacked when you are in it, it's too loose. The RL is what sets your sag for a flat lay.

    a) are you sleeping a diagonal? YOu said your back was bent.. if you lay off center it should flatten that out

    2) you should raise your foot end up about a foot higher than you head (makes sense if you think about it since your top half is condenced and probably heavier than your legs.. so your back will want to be in themiddle of the sag in your hammock (also happens when you're not on a diag)

    d) You should have seen me out my first 2 trips not knowing squat, just winging it. It's definitely a learning process like everything and knowing the little things goes a long way for your comfort. Imagine my surprise when I discovered cold butt syndrome (CBS)

Were you using a pillow in the hammock? It makes side sleeping much more comfortable for me.

There should be lots of sag in your hammock.... the middle should be 2' or so below the ends. (Varies a lot by hammock weight) That helps a lot.

    Ridgeline

I tried my Skeeter Beater with a ridgeline and couldn't get comfortable. I can get much more comfortable without it. Still havent' figured out why.
