Whoopie Failure: Pulled the adjustable loop inside!

I had my hammock buried in my diy bin. I pulled it out, and inadvertently inverted the adjustable eye...

Now what? I can't get the bury to reverse itself. When trying to push it in, the line has gotten softer and softer....

Do I have to cut this one and start over?

    Same here

John, I think the same thing happened to me this past weekend. In a wind storm, my cousin was pulling the whoopie and the adjustable loop pulled inside the constrictor and basically the constrictor was turning inside out. I tried messing with it but wound up cutting the fixed eye off. I made my whoopie's with a starting length of about 14 1/2' so it won't be missed.
Since then I've taken some cotton twine and tied it to the constrictor just past where the adjustable loop leaves it so that hopefully if it happens again I can pull it out. This should perform double duty as a last resort and a drip line. I'm sure I didn't use the knot that would work best, but i figure if it grips it at all it should help.

glp I believe he's saying the adjustable side did the turtle.

I have succesfully retrieved a lost whoopie. It takes a good pair of glasses and some tools. Tweezers, needle-nosed pliers, your splicing tool.
And a lot of patience. Set the whoopie on the table and slowly work the eye back out from whence it came. This is assuming that it was a complete reversal.
If it is a complete reversal, start over.

I've remedied the whoopieOOPS! by tying on a string (as mentioned), installing a small bead when building new whoopies, or with a small split ring.
Any of these three options add little weight and keep the "lost bury syndrome" from happening.

gargoyle is right. It takes a lot of patience but it is do-able. Been there, done that. I have now been putting a small clear plastic bead on to prevent such unnecessary, irritating, annoying, patience testing

I did the same thing last weekend ... About an hour and a ti tent stake solved the problem. Now a set of soft shackles hang on those puppies!

i have my toggles tethered to the whoopie sling with a length of light line. this serves two purposes. one, i haven't lost any toggles since and two i can pull the loop out if i inadvertently pull it thru the bury.
