The words you're looking for are...

"what? this old thing? I just dug it out of the garage, had it forever"

But you also need to have a big cardboard box in the garage full of junk, and it usually helps to have a bunch of oil covered dirty rags strewn over the top.

Please tell me your still allowed to go on the Richloam trip on the 16th. If not tell your wife you have to go to sell it and I will buy it from you then, (if you have not sold it by then).

Pretty sure I'd be sleeping with the donkeys myself if I were to purchase another knife anytime real soon.

The box in the garage is GENIUS!!!!!! I keep my gear room messy enough that it's feasible that I'd have something stashed in there that she didn't know about. But, they say the best place to hide something is in the open, so I think I may start a 'junk box' in the garage. It will compliment my secret PO Box.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness, but...

Jezzz Whizz, perhaps after you have unloaded that albatross you could replace it for something less pricey like a second generation Becker BK2. It's a real beast for half the money. With the money you'll save, you can get something "meaningful" (whatever that means) for her as well. Whatever you do, don't let your significant other know that you bought it; "what, that old thing?"

    Good luck.

Hahaha Thanks guys for all the support. I have aquired a ton of cool gear lately, so I can't really have any beef with her for this one. The issue I have with pulling the old "this old thing?" deal is when I have new gear I walk around staring at it like a kid on X-mas morning. not good at hiding it.

So, SpecialK will be my safety net, anyone interested sooner? Richloam is still two weeks away and I don't have enough vacation time saved up for that long of a guilt trip.

Rick, I feel for ya. Being a gear addict, I have to become very creative about why I just bought a particular item. A sleeping bag is just a bag. If they are not in tune why you need different temp ratings, you are in for a up hill battle. I like the bottle opener on the end of the knife though!
