Holy cow!! I love this idea!! My partner and I bunk bedded our hammocks this summer but this way is cooler. We use a Kelty noah's tarp 12 when set up together and this would be brilliant for us. I'm totally jazzed about this! I will definitely be giving this a try! SWEET!

The pink digicam looks exactly like some I got from JoAnne's. It was in the back where they keep the Red Tag sale bolts. Lots of misc. fabrics all thrown together. Usually can find some cool bugnetting and hammock body fabrics.

Thanks for sharing the ideas and results.

I just made a set of these today and the initial test was pretty good. I did notice that the amount of movement transmitted from one hammock to the other varies a lot based on the length of the pole.

This is my version of spreaders. I am looking for lighter hooks to take the load. but i have these on hand from making tree huggers from ratchet straps and the pole are a metal tent pole.

I think the shorter the bar the less movement.

Any reason this wouldn't work with 2 bridge hammocks? Maybe put the bar at the top of the triangle. I realize this would make quite the wide setup but for fair weather would be nice.

I would think you would need long spreaders. But should work.

That would be a disaster to have one of them come poking through the tarp....
In terms of protecting the tarp and someone mentioned ‘baskets’ for the handle end also, it made me think of my Tarptent that has material baskets for the handle and tip end of hiking poles to make the tent freestanding. Of courses the forces involved are entirely different, but maybe the concept is useful to someone.
