I'm with Hulk on this one. I'd like to do it, but I would not be quick about it. Dropping a couple pounds would be good for me, but I don't think my hiking speed is going to improve to that level any time soon.

Whoa there! Exciting. I like the Alpine lakes wilderness idea and agree with Hulk about Skykomish, its the closest (almost) you can get to the Enchantments without a permit and just as beautiful. There would be good hanging at Trout Lake there, only 2 miles in.
A 70 would be awesome, but I'm not sure I could handle a 23-23-23. Definitely a longer trip though.
I understand this is early for planning, but the thought was the sooner a date range got nailed down the more ppl that might be able to go.
You don't sleep on the ground at home, why would you expect me to out here?
Hey Northwest guys and gals!
A warm spring day hit yesterday, and I got revved up for the NW Summer Hang.
I like the Idea of a Alpine Wilderness area hang. There are a ton of choices and levels of difficulty and distance for a great scenic trip. Some good fishing too.
To plan this, we'll need input on dates, distance willing to hike.
Right now, I'm voting for August 5-7, 2011.
P.S.- Thanks for starting this thread MaxM!

Lake Dorothy would be nice, but the road is out. It will probably get fixed this summer...but without a firm date we should not plan on it.
Trout Lake is quite a nice suggestion.
Here's a teaser photo from the trail.
Yep that's before Trout Lake. Views just get better the more ya hike in. Trout might get crowded just cause it's so close. Copper or Malachite might be a bit a haul for some....not for me though.
Anyway, how many did we get for the winter hang? One thing we need to take into consideration is max group size is 12 in this area.
August 5-7 works for me.
There's a WTA work party on that trail a week later Aug 11-14 that might take up some camp sites. Group hang and work party? Think we could get Mugs to carry a 4 pound Pulaski
I would be up for it...I've been wanting to get over alpine lakes ways. So are dates and the location firmed up?
Ps: I'm good with any hike distance long or short.
I did that hike last fall, and it's a beauty. I'd do it again in a heart beat. Totally hangable, but bring extra long tree huggers, or extenders.
I did the trip in 5 days, and felt that was fast enough. Great trip worth repeating.

I don't even know what a Pulaski is, but at 4 pounds it sounds heavy
Also Aug 5-7 is out for me. I usually do a "its my b-day" hike on or around that date, but this year I am doing something totally different, and actually hanging around in town, to pursue my other passion.
It is our hot rod club's annual show and shine that weekend, so I will be participating/helping out in that.
If you guys plan that date then great and have fun, but if not then maybe I could make it...although I think the following weekend is the GoodGuys show...2000+ hotrods in on location, mmmmmm I would be willing to miss it, to go hang with you guys though.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.
I'd like to join in on this hang but unfortunately cannot participate anytime before Aug. 8th. Pretty wide open after that. Do what's best for the majority of participants. I can always try to join in on WA hang #2.

figure out a date and let me know a few weeks in advanced
EMBRACE THE SUCK
Alright everyone, let's get this thing going again. Late July, Early August is coming up soon. Let's get organized.
I'm fresh off the Oregon Hang, and it was great.
Throw out your random thoughts and let's randomly place them into a gathering.
