    Messed up whoopie sling

Last night, while setting up for an overnight in the dark, I accidentally pulled the loop through a whoopie sling sleeve and it's stuck.

Fortunately I was still able to hang thanks to the fact that I left the buckles attached to my WBBB but I was wondering if anyone had come up with a clever method of pulling the loop back out of the sleeve without too much hassle.

As it stands, I plan to bend a small "hook" into a paper clip and pull it back out that way. Does anyone have a better idea?

You could probably twist and scrunch the bight while pushing the loop back through. The bight is normally fairly loose over the loop.

It's been done...I think I remember BillyBob digging one out. Tedious, but doable.

Lots of patience!!! FWIW when I make whoopie slings these days I add a tiny split ring key ring (easier to find than the appropriate size bead) to the loop so I don't have to go through the exercise of what you're facing. I did it once and that was enough. Adding the split rings to existing loops is easy.

it can be done. As a matter of fact, splitting the braid with a fid in the bight and fishing out the core is the first step in splicing covered or double braid line.

Another option is to use a needle and some whipping twine. Using a needle, pull the whipping twine through part you're trying to recover and pull on both ends of the twine.

Ended up just using my fingers and making the channel the loop goes through as wise as possible. It wasn't too deep in there so I guess I got lucky. Thanks for the advice everybody!

    Done that

In my frustration ended up just remaking the WS. I now loop a small DynaGlide or Amsteel soft shackle through the loop or when I remember recycle a short length of polyester casing and incorporate it into the loop when making the WS. Bit of a bummer the 1st time you experience this brain fart.

a picture is worth a thousand somethings

This happened to me yesterday. Could any of you post pictures of these techniques to keep the loop from being pulled inward?

    Thanks,
