A simple way to protect existing whoopies is to take a short section of string and tie it in a loop in the whoopie's adjustable loop.

Thanks for the link. The pictures really helped. Looks like I will add a little bit more to my whoopie slings.
I happen to be a knot-hobbyist, so I have this item on hand already, and I know some fly-fisherman use them too. A hemostat is an awesome tool for whoopie-sling making, and repairing.
While making the DynaGlide WS I recycled some polyester sheathing from a section of remnant line. A soft shackle "stored" in around the loop of the older WS keeps me from lost loop syndrome. A few extra grams to the WS mass, but serves as my backup soft shackles.

I use soft shackles to attach my whoopies to my tree straps, so I just leave the soft shackles connected through the whoopies to prevent this.
