    Cool First Ever DIY Project...

Hey everybody…finished my first hammock about 3-4weeks ago. Wanted to post some pics sooner but also wanted to combine pics into one post.
    DIY gathered end:
    1.5oz Ripstop from Backyard Daydreamer
    Poly thread from Backyard Daydreamer
    My trusty Kenmore thread injector
    Gathered end using Knotty’s method
    Suspension:
5 ½’ straps made from seatbelt webbing from tttgear
DIY whoopie slings from 7/64 Amsteel and a DIY soft shackle on the head end.
Started by using biners from Backyard Daydreamer
Hit pay dirt when my local gun shop gave me sections of aluminum arrow tubing for free…tried the marlin spike hitch method with toggles…I much prefer this method and will probably use it.

    1st cut...yikes!

My trusty workspace with Kenmore machine

    She's hangin'...yee haw!

It is very comfy...I think I fell asleep after I took this picture

Thanks to everybody for all the great ideas…DIYin this project was an awesome experience...I can’t wait until I get to put some posts in the ground this Spring as we have no trees on our property…yet.

Oh Yeah...I also just finished work on a unique “underpad” project that I will post pics on when I get them together…

(I don't know if it's just my computer or what but I can't see the pics in my post...if you can't either just click on my gallery to check them out)

Congrats on your first of many DIY projects. Something you can take pride in and enjoy.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.

Way to go Dragon Rider. Looks nice.

Have you considered the Stretch-Side mod?

Looks great man. Also, I did the "stretchy side Hammock" Knotty suggested and it really is great to have.

    @Knotty:
I noticed you have what looks like something heavier than gross grain for your loops...is the beefier loop material necessary or could I use the gross grain I already have on hand for the loop material on the stretchy side mod?

thanks for all the encouraging comments everyone...it's what keeps me coming back...well, that and all the hammock talk that goes on around here

It's just good old grosgrain for the loops. Probably looks heavier because of the close-up pics. There's not a lot of strain on the loops.
