I haven't actually weighed my stuff. But I know that my hammock setup is lighter than my tent set up. I use my Equinox poncho for my tarp, HH (one is without the bug netting), sleeping bag, (IX underquilt when cold).

Subtract the weight of a pad, stakes, footprint, & poles. Subtract the weight of a rain coat since I have the poncho/tarp.
The snake-skins allow me to put the hammock in different places on my pack that you don't do with a tent.
I'm a lot lighter and happier now than with a tent setup.
The only ones who are lighter are the hardcore 'only a blanket on the hard shelter floor' guys.
I went through this study yesterday. I have been trying to get more comfortable and lighter for the coming season. My tent setup with pack and sleep system was 15lbs and my current setup with the same gear is just under 7lbs. I am more comfortable and lighter with the hammock gear. I was hoping it would be lighter but I did not expect to cut the weight in half. I also feel like I have more freedom because I don't have to crawl in the tent to wait out a storm, I can sit under the tarp and watch it.
Now I need to work on cutting down my fishing gear!!!
