    Edge tarp picture request

I'm thinking about getting a new tarp, and from the dimensions listed the Edge sounds like it would suit me. The problem is that I can hardly find any pictures. I was hoping someone could post up some pictures of the tarp itself, over a hammock, and perhaps a packed photo for a size reference. Also any recommendations on sil or spinn would be appreciated. I know it's a hot topic, but I'd like a little input from users. Cuben is out for now due to price. I guess what I really need to know is pack size. I know spinn doesn't pack as small as sil, even though it's lighter, but I'm not sure what the actual difference is. Being that I use a GoLite Jam for all my backpacking duties, real estate is definitely at a premium. Thanks in advance.

I have tarps made from several different materials...I find no packing size difference between Sil and Spinn.

A search in the Gallery resulted in two Edge pics over a hammock -

Thanks. Good news about the packing size too. I guess I should have been more specific...I'd like to see a side shot to see what end coverage is like. I had found some pics like I said, but there just isn't a lot out there.

There are a couple of pics in an off-site review here -

Maybe one of the side shots over a BB will show what you want.

Yeah those are more like what I was looking for. Do they still come with metal rings at the guyout points? I'd still really like to see some packed pictures of it too.

    Dave41079.

Attended the Feb 2011 NW PA Hang.

Took these pics of jlodens rig.

jlodens setup and review: It's a WBBB 1.0 Double Layer (only its second outing, but I'm liking it so far), and the tarp is actually a Warbonnet Edge tarp in Spinn UL. It's closer in size to a MacCat Standard tarp than the micro if I recall correctly. Definitely on the small side but with a tight pitch it covers the Blackbird enough for even bad weather as you can see from the pics.

Took a few pics of different hangers setups, with some discriptions. You can see a few more here:

Hope this helps. Also considering purchasing one for myself.

the width of the edge is exactly half-way between that of the oes standard and deluxe, and the length is the same as the standard's (10'6")

my tarps all currently have a rolled hem around the perimeter, with edge binding on the RL seam. the corner rings are 1" plastic triangles, the RL corner rings are small metal rings.

all corners have a small metal ring on the underside for attachment of a door kit, the pic angrysparrow posted above shows the most current design.

HWS thanks, those are excellent pics. Now I just have to decide if a few ounces is worth $65 to me. I know I'd be saving almost 2oz on the tarp, and another couple probably on not needing guyline tensioners since the spinn doesn't stretch. I already have lines with shock cord loops built in that I could use on it, so making them isn't a big deal....ahhhh choices choices!

    Which One ???

    Thanks Dave41079,

I wish I could be of more help. My thoughts spin like a coin being flipped before a football game. Trying to decide on "The Tarp", coverage, weight vs cost and what my perceived usages will be.

Right now I'm relishing in my confusion!

Might just end up flipping a coin in the end!

Perehaps a few more posts will follow us to enlightenment!
