    warbonnet vs hammockgear

who has the softer "hand" on their quilts? i have no quilt from warbonnet so i cannot comment about it. are stormcrow's TQs the same softness and feel as his UQs?

looking for info specifically from those who own both...

Funny you should ask. I was holding my quilts yesterday and I would say my hammock gear quilt is softer but my Warbonnett is older so the fabric my have changed since I bought mine.

they're also constantly looking for ways to upgrade the materials they use.. sometimes it depends on vendors. I think a 1.1 is gonna feel like 1.1 regardless of who made the quilt out of it.

And yes, Stormcrows top and bottom quilts feel identical. Only difference is the pattern he cuts for them. If there is a difference between TQ and UQ, it's negligable, I couldn't tell what so ever.

I actually think it's the denier that adds to softness and packability

If feel is important to you check out katabaticgear.com He lines the inside of his quilts with taffeta.

I have Warbonnet and I will have a summer burrow soon. I'll post when I get it. But I'm sure they are the same. My warbonnet mambas are really nice and soft.

Speaking as someone who makes fiber tat goes into soft fabrics, I can state definitively that denier will impact softness. Also, the type of fiber (nylon) and any coating (DWR) can impact softness. Sometimes, the color plays a part, as I know gray Momentum usually feels softer. After that, the quilting pattern could have a very minor impact, but I agree with Slo that 1.1 will feel like 1.1 if the source (and therefore the fiber properties) are the same.

I have a Yeti UQ and a Burrow TQ, the Burrow is definitely softer but I don't think it matters how soft and UQ is. I can't say how the Mamba from Warbonnet would be...

Very close, but in my opinion the Hammock Gear quilts have a bit softer hand.
