    Shamu vs Baby Orca

    Well,

I got my gossamer gear 1/4" pad, I got my thermolite reactor sleeping bag liner, I got my blackbird hammock, and I'm planning to order a light hiker bedroll. My only issue is whether to get the Shamu or the Orca.

I'm worried about comfort orca vs shamu
    - how noticeable is the drop off of the 3/4 UQ under my legs? Not just with temperature, but will there be an indentation or something? I tend to move around a bit in the hammock to find the right positions.
    - will my feet be warm enough with just the bedroll and bag liner?

    What about pack size?
Is there a notable difference in packed size between orca vs shamu?

If I won't feel the 3/4 UQ at all as I move/shift positions in the hammock, and it has a smaller pack size, I think I'd probably go with the Orca.

Anyone have both and want to weigh in?

I'd like to see the light hiker bedroll in a stuff sack beside a nalgene bottle or something for scale reference.

IMHO, that's the way to go for you. You won't even know it's under you. The BedRoll will insluate your lower legs. The Baby Orca is 25% smaller when packed or unpacked. Most importantly, folks who move around a lot do better with the 3/4 UQ.

I'm a restless sleeper and went with the 3/4 Orca.

FYI I put a few pics of my baby orca in the Gallery here yesterday. Even have a oic if it in a stuff sack next to a Nalgene bottle for size ref.
