Nice work!
Nice work!
Funny you should say that.........
Yesterday, before I sawed 2 boards in half to make the 4 legs, I just nailed them to the bottom of the stand, with one nail (laugh it up. it seemed like a good idea at the time). I managed to get into the hammock with no problems at all, and I stayed there for a while. At some point I sat up on the edge of the hammock, shifting most of the weight to one side and I noticed the stand started to lean. I didn't know it at that moment but the nails on the feet were pulling free as the stand leaned over. I saw sitting in the hammock like a chair, so I just put my feet down and leaned the hammock stand back to center, but it just kept going and the whole stand flipped over. Very embarrassing, let me tell you.

If I had it to do over again, it would have been a lot easier just to have bought something. I spent about $80 on the stand, and I have been working on it a little bit at a time over the last couple of months. The whole process has been a real b----h.
After already spending the money for the materials, I found some better and easier alternatives.
For about $20 more than I spent on mine I could have bought something like this. I hate buying something like that without being able to look at it firat and check out the quality.
A better alternative would be something like this. I really like the fact that it has some pretty simple brakets that hold everything together and you could easily replace the wood and change the dimensions of the stand.
Hammock.com just sells the brackets but they cost as much as the wooden Ebay stand and don't even come with any wood!

It is too bad the shipping cost is more than the stand for the cyprus stand. I wish they would just sell the brackets like hammock.com does. Their price for brackets is outragous. Anyhow I like your stand.

HC4U--I like the stand! The other options you list aren't immediately portable and would take lots more $$ to make them portable. So you win.
I understand too well the feeling like a project is taking way more time and effort than it ought.

I LOVE it, and I have everything to make it right now except the gate hinges. I might try to make it this week! Thanks for the plans and pics

Do you think my landlord would mind if my back deck ends up missing? I could salvage parts from it to make one of these!
HC, sweet job man, that looks good!

Cool!
It really is a good looking stand.
Trust nobody!
What is the angle of the supports? 60 degrees? I really like how yours fit nice and flush.
