You're welcome of course. The Scout will also give you a chance to teach her to tie a proper bowline and how to use a toggle (marlin spike). If you're not sure about that part, you can check out Shug's videos in advance - she doesn't need to know that part.

I can't help you with the pony though...

Hey Rockdawg and Slowhike, I'll be spending some vacation time in Damascus for TD (actually hiking in from Erwin with my brother.) Don't know how, but it'd be nice to look you up.

I'm going to try to get out for Trail Days this year. It would be good to meet a few more hammockers there.
I'm sure someone will start a thread here on HF about it soon if they haven't already.

Well, if I get there, I have a friend who will be working with one of the vendors at TDs. I think it is 4 Dog Stoves, or something close to that. I'll probably be down there talking with him about his thru on the PCT last year and a few other things. I'll post a PM to you with a time and place to meet when I know I am going - probably be sometime in late April before I know.

Sounds good. I'll watch for a PM.
Just for fun, I visited the Four Dog Stove site. I've been wanting a multi-fuel system...the Bushcooker LT 1 looks like a nifty setup. I'll have to check them out at TD. Thanks.

sounds interesting. Hamhocker and I may try to make it. She wants to see the ponies after seeing my pics from there

Just an FYI......there is a pony auction that takes place on the Saturday of the festival. Last year there were only 4 ponies, but the year before, the cheapest one went for $10.......quite affordable for young daughters......

Kevin and I are looking forward to everyone coming back. Thanks to all who were here for the hang last month. You represented your group extremely well and left a positive impression on all the park staff involved.

Thanks Marceia. Looking forward to seeing you guys again. You certainly have been a positive representation of Park Rangers.
But you sure are making it hard for Home Run to say no to daughter about the pony

I'll see if I can make it up there, but I'm not telling my wife about the $10 pony thing....

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

    Hope you can do it.
I hope all of you who have expressed an interest can make it.
One important note here... I believe the group site is going to be limited to 35 people. I'll plan to talk to the rangers so we'll know our limitations should we grow into that large of a group.
