Can you tell me how to make the suspension extenders and soft-shackles some were talking about. I saw one set of soft-shackles, but they used knots and I belive that it would be better to weave it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. Danrum

I gave it a try on my little EDC last night with some Lash-It, not too bad

I use soft shackles as keychain lanyards. Always have a couple around that way

A suspension extender is a length of Amsteel (or Dynaglide... my new friend) with 2 dead eyes on the end. Use the locked brummel tutorial above to make the dead eyes.

I used the soft shackle pictorial from above as well. The only knot on a soft shackle is a stopper knot. It prevents the locking end from slipping of the other end and it also traps the bury and prevents it from slipping it out when you milk the locking end out.

    Thanks everyone for the information!

Thanks to all for the advise on the soft Shackels and extensions. I am making me some of both this evening. I am going to have to find me some Dynaglide and give it a try too. I really liked the the loop Highbinder placed on that slick knife. I think Amsteel is really fun messing around with. Danrum

Just reading this thread - thanks for the info, I was planning on making some soon. What are the pros and cons of the shackle, as I have heard some just stitched the end of the bury when using a locked bremmel.

A soft shackle is a lightweight replacement for a carabiner.

    Locked brummels need no stitching.
