If I may ask for some help in thinking about how I'll do this hammock set up contest. I think it would be unfair to pit older kids against younger in a timed event. I'm considering doing this as a drawing. To enter the draw, one must properly set the hammock up. This will allow our guests to actually set up a hammock - a nice little interaction. And for doing so they get a chance to win said hammock.

    Does this sound fair?

Can anyone think of a better idea?

I also noted the illustration from this site showing the "basics" as listed here:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=11700

I can print a sum of these off on a color printer to give out as well. If anyone knows of other great illustrations, please make note of them to me and I'll make up a small 3 part flyer or something with the info in them to hand out.

    Thanks!!

How about going early and reserving a likely bunch of trees? Hammocks just don't look the same hanging from stands. Newbies deserve to see them at their best. Having said that, I can bring a tensegrity stand, but given Mac's experience we should probably only hang one hammock at a time from it.

Pedro is your man. He did a sharpening workshop two years ago. It was excellent.

I agree but unfortunately the good hanging trees are in the group tenting area where the Mahha group will setup, which is not real close to the park entrance where the park manager suggests the exhibition area should be. We can still take interested folks to the group area if we want, but we should have a "tour guide" so our personal stuff doesn't walk. It probably wouldn't be a problem if we have some of our group always in that vicinity. I will however take another look for possible trees in the pavilion area, but stands will still be needed.

WV, MAHHA would be a great place to introduce the Stakeless X Tensegrity Stand for One Hammock. I'll turn up the heat.

Whooo Buddy! (Never thought I'd hear myself saying that. )

Exciting news. Let me know if you need some of those antenna mast sections back, but I bet you're manufacturing some stronger struts yourself.

I wasn't sure I'd get to this hang. Pennsylvania is so far from West-by-God-Virginia. However, I really want to see all the folks and learn some new stuff myself. I figure I can go that great distance if I break up the trip. I'll stop the first night at Laurel Fork Wilderness, then the next at Roaring Plains or Dolly Sods, then the third night at Otter Creek, then ...

I'm fine-tuning and beautifying prototype #1 of the Right Angle Hammock to bring along. For the potluck or breakfast I'm bringing ramps.

Should post this in the forum calendar so people don't have to search for the thread to find it.

I'm sure there will be extra hammocks available if you want to hang in the group area with the MAHHA group. Let me know, I'll be sure you get outfitted.
Also ZQ has reserved 3 sites in the campground...good for 9 tents, you're welcome to stay there too.
