Sure, I can see a comparison booth showing the differences between tenting and hammocking in various weather situations. This could be extended to Ultralight comparisons as well. Is that what you had in mind?

This might be good place to voice a concern I have. I believe we need to be careful and focus on hammocking advantages and maybe disadvantages. We don't want to appear negative or demean anyone or the gear they carry in any way. Hammocking isn't for everyone. Ultralight packing isn't for everyone either, regardless of whether they are a hammocker or not. It's a good idea you have, but stay sensitive to presentation.

Maybe you could display some of your inventions too. Head up a DIY booth?
I would be glad to show off my wares.

    Perhaps combining that with Greenlespaul's ultra-light discussion/demo

we could do that i would be game

2Q i was thinking more along the lines of showing ppl that you can still go UL and use a hammock
but we could play around with it and make it into whatever we need
i would never push UL on anyone ...i always say it's not for everyone...
but maybe i can bring a few things to light for ppl about UL backpacking that they might not know

but like i said i can mix it up and make it anything you think would be better
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

Great, that is an interactive venue that should be very interesting and educational. I can visualize a picnic table with several stoves cooking up various menu selection for the folks to taste. A couple posters with favorite recipes. It would be cool to invite Sarah herself. Wonder if she'd come? Can I officially write you guys down for a FBC booth?

Yes, I do plan to have a raffle and potluck dinner. Food is always a fun part of our get togethers. Saturday night after the "program" is over.
Maybe you would be willing to put on a quilt demo, explaining the various issues regarding temps and quilt usage. I can see 3-4 hammocks set up with various quilt arrangements on display.Sounds good.
I'll check with the park manager about reserving some sites over at the campground for our wives.

That sounds like a fun idea...and a hammock prize for the winner. I'll write you in for that!

Agreed on the picnic table educational setup. I'll bring my best. Everyone feel free to bring your stoves and recipes to contribute.

GreenLesPaul, I can bring a couple of IX UQs to help demonstrate UL hammocking.

I am thinking of taking secondary roads all the way from NC to MAHHA, an 8 hour ride on my airhead!

April 29th - May 1st is on my calendar! Hope to see you all there.
The camping hammock lends luxurious comfort and solitude to that which would otherwise be a vulgar frolic in the dirt.

Jacks 'R' Better will host the raffle again, to cover the MAHHA food costs and support the PGFSP program.

Smee and I will demonstrate/teach Flint Knapping.

Since the park is approaching it from the info and open to the public we can opperate a small gear concerssion on Saturday if that works for all concerned, with say a 5-10% kicker for the PGFSP raffle program...Does that work 2Q?

I plan on being there. Not sure if I could demonstrate anything, but I can help.
