My local outdoor store has replacement pack straps and belts for Osprey, which are REALLY nice packs, from what I've seen. The ones I saw were $45 for the straps, and $35 for the belts, IIRC. Not exactly cheap, but not terrible. I made some straps for my MMP, and it's not difficult.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Like PF said, the straps aren't that difficult.
Actually, I thought the straps were some of the easiest tasks in the G4 pack. Some of the seams that joined different types of fabrics and straps, and had a radius to them... those were more challenging.

So, for those intimidated by the straps... I'd encourage you to give them a try. May not be as difficult as you think.

    Hey Scott,
Still looking like early next week for the IX to be live on the site?

I've had a request to make someone an IX UQ like the one I just wrote up.
I'd prefer to order from you so I can get everything in one stop.
And it will give me an excuse to order some other stuff I've had my eye on, but didn't want to pay separate shipping on.

Yeah, I think so. It comes on a HUGE roll, so it needs to ship on a freight truck, rather than through UPS or the like (not cheap!). The company that makes it is somewhat in the NorthEast (Penn.) and I'm in Maine. I believe it shipped either yesterday or today, so I expect early next week (if not tomorrow).

Insultex has arrived and we've made it available on the website. Wow that's a big roll!
    Insultex a.jpgInsultex b.jpg

Shipping starts at $6 and goes up incrementally from there per yd. It's not heavy, but it is more bulky than fabrics so we had to increase shipping a tad on this item.

Get it while it's hot! (Get it... insulation... hot... insulation is hot... ha ha hardy har har )

I have made 4 packs based off the ALPINE RUCKSACK plans in the past. Can't wait to see the new backpack design maybe it will be a good excuse to make a new pack.

The photo is of my wife and I with the first 2 backpacks I made.
