Noobie looking for some WBBB comfort

Inexperienced Hammock'er here. I am 5'10 230lbs and I'm trying to decide between the 1.1DL vs the 1.7DL WBBB. I know this has been asked before, on the forum, but I think I'm trying to clarify different things. First off I realize that the 1.7 is a bit heavier and more durable and that the pack size of the 1.1 is smaller, but what I'm trying to figure out is which one would be more comfortable? I've been reading that the 1.7 might not be comparable to the 1.1 in terms of comfort because it's made of rougher material and is not as "stretchy" causing calf pressure. Are these issues inherent in the fabric, or is there some sort of "break-in" period for the hammocks with the 1.7 taking longer to become comfortable? What do you guys think?

    Welcome to HF!

According to the specs you've given, and comparing that to the specs per Brandon's website, you could basically achieve max flatness with the 1.1DL Blackbird.

I emailed Brandon to see what the timeline was for availability of the 1.1dbl. I think the wait time might be the deciding factor as I'm going to Europe in May and hope to be able to take it with me then.

Well, I got a response from brandon and it looks like the 1.1 will be in next week so no worries there. I guess i'm just still kind of tossed then. One more quick question, how does using the shelf change things. If I plan to put a knife, flashlight, netbook, waterbottle and other odds and ends on the shelf will that pose an issue? Figure 15ish lbs... can the shelf handle that much?

My wife is 5ft3 and 160 lbs and uses a 1.0 BB double, loves it. She has been know to turn completley around it during the night without realizing it.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Had I to do it all over again I would buy the 1.1 dbl WBBB instead of the 1.7 dbl I did. The Traveler 1.1 dbl holds my 250ish heft quite well and I find the lay to be better. The WBBB 1.7 shelf holds my hand cannon (like Linus' blanket to me), LEO flashlights, and what ever else I want in there with no complaints, I don't see how a 1.1 would be any different.
