    No Trees - Unique Hangs

If my first post is placed in the wrong forum location, please forgive.

I am looking for creative ideas to hang when convieniently placed trees are not available.
    Such as...
Single limb hangs from one tree branch. This is my favorite. There lots of big live oaks around here, but it always seems the next oak is 50 meters away
Telephone poles to guy wire or other ??
Truck to Telephone pole or other ??
    Truck to truck

    Under bridge columns
Lots of camping or picnic areas have covered table areas. These structures can make nice hang locations

I can probably make just about anything work, but would like to see what members here have done.

    Thanks, Medinacaver

Telephone poles to guy wire or other ?? Hanging stuff from telephone/power poles is not only a good way to get hurt (that normally uninsulated wire running down its edge is its lighting ground) its illegal most places)

Truck to Telephone pole or other ?? See above comment

Truck to truck Been done before, there are pics somewhere on the site.

Under bridge columns Concrete is normally set/reinforced to handle 1 type of load, while most are more than thick enough to handle you its not designed for it. Also being next to the road is A: loud, B: a temptation to people driving by (I trust the wildlife more than the people generally) and C: sleeping/living under bridges is frowned on by most cops that I've meet.

Lots of camping or picnic areas have covered table areas. These structures can make nice hang locations Be very careful with that, they may not be made to hold the weight meaning mid night your now the "support" for the roof.

Given that most of your options seem to be car camping, look into getting one of the stands you can set up.

The only creative thing I have done is a single tree hang using two different limbs. The limbs were really high and I had to throw the strap with biner over the limbs. I tied some cord to the biners so all I had to do was pull the cord to undo everything.

Any special considerations for rock hanging. Are you just wrapping the rock w/ your usual suspension line, or do you have anything in place to protect the rope from abrasion?

I just used my tree huggers to wrap thru cracks in the rock. I would imagine that the sharp edges of rock would cause some wear over time.

I'd much rather hike in areas with trees so may never be in that situation again. Was invited to join this trip with a bunch of ground dwellers and fully expected to set up on the ground. I was more concerned about any invisible cracks in the rock that I was attached to popping loose in the middle of the night and landing on my head.

There's the one tree hang I wrote about earlier The trunk is anchored on the right, grows in an arch like you see, and then reverses itself on the left and grows upwards as you see

This is my WB BB with the stock webbing and Whoopie Slings, hanging from 3' columns in a wash under a Bridge. No rain in forecast.
