also, in the case of larger tree trunks folks have successfully hung 2 hammocks off the left/right sides of the same trees- must arrange your suspension(s) to be tangential to the trunk, rather than radially oriented..Hope that helps, KM

I have hung two hammocks from the same tree and used spreader bars (struts) to keep them away from each other. Back in the day when I used a webbing suspension this was pretty easy, now with whoopie slings not so easy. But I now have a full arsenal of tarps so Gage doesn't need to be right next to me any more. So yes, it has been done; but I have found that three trees works even better. This year at the Texas Hang I hung three hammocks under my JRB 11 x 10 tarp and we all stayed dry during the brief storms we had; it was close though.
