    An Interesting Idea

I was just wondering about an integrated hammock, tarp and bug netting system. I am envisioning the bug netting attaching along the edge of the hammock to the underside of the tarp.

I thought this might be neat. The advantages might include weight saved in the bug netting since it doesn't have to go over the whole top of the hammock (but probably no saving or heavier if I were guessing since the hammock won't be right against the tarp. I guess another advantage may be that the netting won't be close to your face and help with the claustrophobia.

In reality, it doesn't seem like it has much to offer, but I thought it was an interesting idea for y'all to ponder.

OR a CRL bug net, separate from tarp and hammock....

If the bug net came off your tarp, you'd loose the ability to pitch at different angles... like say porch mode - with one side straight out.

What you propose is doable, but restricting.

I agree with what you said about weight savings - the bug netting on the WBBB is probably the minimal amount you can get away with excluding the half bug nets some guys have been trying. As for not being flexible, if you made the netting baggy enough, it seems like it would accomodate a wide range of tarp configurations easily.

One con would be - if you want a bug net, you have to have a tarp up. <soup nazi voice>No open skies for you!</soup nazi voice>

    Neat idea regardless!

Yeah, that was what I was envisioning. Very neat, I haven't seen that before.

You're right, but you could get around it with extra bug netting, allowing for more pitch angles. That would add more weight, though. I guess I just like the idea of a complete package and I'm looking for something different to see.
