Just decided to put mine up for tweaking products and getting accustomed to how they feel in the Hammock .... New whoopie slings on for the 1st time
I used a 400 pound slw 4 screw ring on an 18 inch piece of 2x4 and screwed it onto 2 studs to distribute the weight better. P1110337.jpg
It probably wasn't necessary, but my 3 year old likes to be in it with me, and he is very rambunctious, and I was also thinking if I had my friends over, there might be a few of us wanting sit on it at once, and I wanted it to be nice and sturdy for that. Thank you to everyone for the info in this thread. I am a renter in an apartment complex but I decided to take the risk and hang my hammock in the studs. I took the advice from one of the posters in this forum and mounted the eye-bolts on perpendicular walls to help with the tension being put on the threads of the bolt. It took me about 30 min and seems to hold solid as a rock.
Many thanks to dejoha for the hang calculator. I ended up getting something wrong and have to be 30 inches off ground to get the 30* angle but that is fine with me. Here are some pics to see what I did:
